Man presents iron as gold to swindle women
KATHMANDU: Police arrested a man for trying to sell two women iron pieces in the name of gold, on Sunday.
The Metropolitan Police Crime Division identified the swindler as 42-year-old Padam Bahadur Tamang, a resident of Sinamangal, originally from Sindhupalchok.
Police said Padam Bahadur met the 17-year-old Som Maya Tamang on September 29 last year and asked her to keep the gold pieces instead of her gold jewellery, stating that exchanging more than 25 tola of gold required a bill, which he immediately did not have.
Similarly, on February 18, he also swindled 77-year-old Kanchhi Shrestha luring her to exchange her ornaments with the five tola of gold which he had.
Noticing of the cheating, Shrestha had filed a report against Padam on Friday at the Metropolitan Division headquarters for swindling, seeking justice.
Police informed that he has been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, for further investigations.
