Businessman robbed of Rs 3.6 mln after forced chloroform intoxication

KATHMANDU: A businessman has been reportedly robbed of Rs 3.6 million and a mobile phone at Bhotebahal in Kathmandu on Monday.

According to a complaint lodged with police, unidentified persons rendered Shobhakar Pokharel (39) unconscious using chloroform and robbed him of Rs 3.6 million in cash and mobile phone that he was carrying.

Pokharel runs an electric shop at the CTC Mall in Sundhara. He hails from Kerung-1 of Arghakhanchi district and currently resides at Kirtipur-5 of Kathmandu,

Later when he regained consciousness, according to Pokharel, he found himself in bushes near the Balkhu-based Kumari Club, police said.

Police said that Pokharel is receiving treatment at the Bir Hospital.

Similarly, a group of four unidentified persons robbed Bijay Adhikari (24) of Jhor, Tokha Municipality -8 of two mobile phones, Rs 4,600 in cash and an ATM card.

Police said that they are looking into both cases.
