Man sentenced to 23 years in jail for abducting, raping minor
KATHMANDU: A man was sentenced to 23 years in jail for abducting and raping a six-year-old girl in Bhaktapur around three months ago.
A single bench of judge Lipta Bahadur Thapa at the Bhaktapur District Court on Thursday ordered that Nara Bahadur Shrestha aka Raj Kumar, a permanent resident of Urlabari Municipality-3 in Morang district, be sent to the jail.
The Court observed that Thapa, currently residing in Madhyapur Thimi-16 of Bhaktapur, on February 19 abducted a six-year-old girl from his neighbourhood and raped her a number of times leaving her seriously injured.
The Court also ordered that Thapa pay Rs 100,000 compensation to the victim and pay a fine of equal amount, the Rastriya Samachar Samiti quoted a Court official Hari Krishna Shrestha as saying.
