Man suffers asphyxiation in well, dies at hospital

KATHMANDU: A man died of asphyxiation he suffered inside a well while he was cleaning the water source, in Thapagaun of Kathmandu on Saturday.

The 45-year-old Arjun Budhathoki was deployed by Suyash Pratap Sen to clean his 25-foot well in his compound in Thapagaun, KMC-10 today.

Budhathoki was a permanent resident of Ramechhap district, currently residing in Gokarna of the Capital.

After receiving information that he had fallen unconscious underground, a police team deployed from the Baneshwor-based Metropolitan Police Circle had reached the incident site.

He was rescued with a rope and rushed to the Civil Service Hospital, where he died during treatment, informed police.
