KATHMANDU: A man defrauded own nephew of Rs 16 lakh, promising the latter of a lucrative job at the National Investigation Department (NID), according to police.

Ganesh Bahadur Khanal (33) from Thakani VDC-3 of Sindhupalchok district, currently residing in Kusunti, LSMC-3, was arrested recently on charge of swindling Rameshwor Chaulagain (30), his sister's son. The victim is a resident of KMC-6.

The Metropolitan Police Crime Division said Khanal had assured Chaulagain to help him land as an investigation officer at the NID.

After knowing his uncle's trick, Chaulagain had filed a complaint against him.

The suspect has been handed over to Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, for further investigations and actions.
