Maoist CC meet kicks off today
KATHMANDU: The central committee meeting of the Unified CPN-Maoist is scheduled to begin in the Capital tomorrow.
According to the party sources, 137 of the 138 central committee members, and 37 members of the party’s advisory committee, would participate the meeting. Tika Bikram Hamal, a central committee member, deserted the party to join Mani Lama-led CPN-Maoist.
A Maoist politburo member said that the party meet was likely to induct five leaders of the CPN (ML-Revolutionary) in the party’s central committee and in the advisory committee.
Party chairman, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, will present the political document, including the views and ideas expressed in the party’s latest politburo meet, for group-discussion during the meeting, according to the sources.
The sources also claimed that the party’s national convention would be one of the major agendas at the meeting. “The meeting will also dwell on the issues pertaining to the establishment of civilian supremacy, peace process, national independence and drafting of the new statute,” the sources added.
