Maoist Centre "not for govt change"

KATHMANDU: CPN Maoist Centre Headquarters member Dev Gurung said his party was in favour of giving continuity to the incumbent government now.

He was of the view that attempts to topple the government would invite instability in the nation.

"The change in government is possible only when there is national consensus," he said, adding that it, however, was impossible in the current situation.

Terming the question about the change of guard, therefore, irrelevant, the Maoist leader said there was no discussion in the newly unified Maoist party about toppling the current government.

Gurung was speaking at an interaction at the Reporters' Club on Wednesday.

The leader, however, maintained that a national consensus government was required to solve existing political problems of the nation.
