Maoist Centre postpones national assembly till November 17
KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN Maoist Centre on Friday decided to postpone its national assembly till November 17.
Earlier, the assembly was scheduled for October 26 and 27.
The party Central Office meeting presided over by the Chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal made a decision to this effect, according to a statement issued by the the PM's Secretariat.
"Considering the pressure of works including discussions and talks with Madhesi, Tharu and Janajati forces," the statement quoted the party spokesperson Pampha Bhusal as telling journalists after the meeting, "The meeting has decided to postpone the national assembly fixed for October 26 and 27 till November 17."
Meanwhile, the party Chairman briefed the meeting about his visit to Goa of India, beginning tomorrow, to attend the BRICS Summit.
He said he was scheduled to hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on sidelines of the Summit.
