Maoists all set to topple govt

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the Standing Committee of the main opposition party UCPN-Maoist took a decision to topple the present government at any cost due to the failure of the incumbent government to meet the deadline for the new constitution on May 28.

Emerging from the meeting at the party headquarters in Paris Danda in Koteshwor on Tuesday, Maoist spokesperson Dinanath Sharma said that the meeting decided to form a national consensus government under their leadership to meet the deadline for the new constitution.

In another context, Sharma said that chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal should head the High-Level Political Mechanism although the party is yet to take a formal decision to the effect.

Earlier, the Maoists had consulted with Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum and fringe parties represented in the Constituent Assembly for the change of guard.
