Meet on Dalits’ education held

Participants in an interaction today stressed on the need for awareness among the Dalits on the importance of education.
Speaking at an interaction, former MP, Golchhe Sarki, said unless awareness was raised among the Dalits on the importance of education, access to schools would matter nothing. He said, “Thousands of Dalits have got scholarships provided by different organisations, but very few are doing well.”
Binod Pahadi, a Dalit activist, demanded the government to think about the overall development of Dalits. According to him not over 20 per cent of Dalits are literate in Nepal. Educationist Bidhyanath Koirala said economic problem is the main hurdle facing the Dalits.
