Meet on palliative care ends

Kathmandu, February 19:

A two-day Palliative Care Conference held for the first time in Nepal concluded today. The conference stressed that the patients in their last stage had the right to die a comfortable death and the health workers should be aware of it.

Dr Rajesh Nath Gongal, president of Hospice Nepal and organiser of the event, said the conference was aimed at making the public and the health workers aware of delivering palliative care, which is a special service given to the patients in their last stage so that they could breath their last painlessly.

About 200 health workers, including doctors and nurses, participated in the conference.
