Meeting on Indian assistance to Nepal Police
KATHMANDU: Officials of Nepal and India have held a meeting on cooperation between the two nations including Indian support to Nepal Police training activities.
The first meeting of Joint Project Monitoring Committee (JPMC) concluded in a friendly environment at National Police Training Academy in Maharajgunj on Friday.
According to a press release issued by Nepal Police spokesperson DIG Kamal Singh Bam, Nepal Police shared updates on progress made by the organisation after an agreement was signed about the JPMC.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) had also been signed between the representatives of Nepal and India for providing financial assistance to the construction of National Police Training Academy building and other infrastructures.
Chairman of JPMC and Secretary at Nepal's Ministry of Home Affairs, Narayan Gopal Malego had chaired the programme, while Abhay Thankur, Joint-Secretary of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs had represented the southern neighbour, reads the press statement.
The JPMC Coordinator and Executive Director of the Nepal Police Training Academy, AIG Surendra Shah, had presented the progess made as per the MoU till the date while the Indian side had pledged to abide by the earlier agreement. They also agreed to settle some outstanding issues through diplomatic correspondence.
