Minister Pun urges UK to invest in energy sector

Kathmandu, July 13

Minister of Energy, Irrigation and Water Resources Barsha Man Pun has urged the United Kingdom to invest in Nepal’s energy sector.

The minister made this statement during a meeting with British Ambassador to Nepal Richard Morris at the ministry today.

On the occasion, Minister Pun requested the British ambassador to encourage British investors to invest in Nepal’s energy sector as Nepal had achieved political stability. He also added that it was the right time to invest in Nepal’s hydropower sector.

Minister Pun recalled that he had issued a white paper on energy, water resources and irrigation after he assumed office.

Likewise, Minister Pun urged British investors to invest in transmission line as well. He was of the view that the government was working to create investment-friendly environment and formulate new policies to attract foreign investment.

In response, British Envoy Richard expressed the British government’s readiness to help Nepal in the energy sector and informed that the Department for International Development of was working in the sector of alternative energy.
