Ministers in clean-up campaign
LALITPUR: Minister of General Administration Pumpha Bhusal inaugurated the Bagmati cleanup campaign on Friday. It was organised by the Ministry of Science and Technology in the UN Park area at Jwagal in Lalitpur to mark the international Labour Day.
Inaugurating the campaign, she stressed on public awareness and public campaigns against the land mafia who were responsible for encroaching the Bagmati river and polluting it.
On the occasion, Bhusal and Science Minister Ganesh Shah planted trees in the park premises and took part in the clean-up campaign.
Speaking at the same programme, Shah urged all who loved Bagmati to come together to protect the river and not wait for the government as the government alone cannot do enough.
The programme also saw the participation of UN Park Development Committee, KMC, Bagmati development committee, Lalitpur sub-metropolitan city, JTUCC and Waste Management, Resource Mobilisation Centre and Nepal Police and Armed Police Force teams. A group of visually impaired artists performed an awareness song on the clean-up.
