MoH forward action plan to set up one medical college in each province

Kathmandu, September 13

The Ministry of Health has forwarded an action plan to establish one medical college in each of the seven provinces.

During a meeting held at the prime minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, Health Minister Gagan Thapa also submitted the feasibility report on the establishment one medical college in each the seven provinces to PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Education Minister Dhaniram Poudel and members of Mathema Commission also attended the meting.

PM Dahal while addressing the Legislature-Parliament on September 8 had pledged to establish one medical college in each of the seven provinces.

During the meeting, Health Minister Thapa also briefed the prime minister on the action plan prepared by the ministry to implement the promises made by the PM during his address to the Parliament, said Pratap Poudel, advisor to Health Minister Thapa.

Similarly, the meeting also decided to request the Legislature-Parliament to forward the medical education bill, which is now under consideration in the Parliament, immediately.

The meeting also decided to expedite the process of appointing dean at TU Institute of Medicine and halt affiliation to new medical colleges until Parliament passes the bill related to medical education.
