MoES to launch students’ enrolment campaign

The Ministry of Education and Sports is all set to launch a door-to-door campaign from April 27 to May 7 to increase the enrolment of students at the primary level.

The ministry campaign to get more students in the schools is a part of the government’s initiative to ensure education for all.

The school admissions opened today and will last till April 25 and the ministry plans to launch the door-to-door campaign from April 27 to ensure that the children who were left out of the schools during the admission period will be enrolled in the school, said Shanker Pandey, secretary the MoES, at a press conference today.

Locals, local teachers, schools, school management committee members and stakeholders will actively participate in the door-to-door campaign, he said, adding that all logistics required for this campaign have already reached different parts of the country. Data reveals that 10 per cent of the 3.2 million school-going children are out of schools.

The ministry has also launched alternative education programme to ensure that the over-age children get promotions in their required grades. The ministry has made provision of grouping the over-age students in different groups and providing them with special classes.

The ministry has also set up a complaint unit with phone numbers 016631973 and 016637677 for filing any complaint or suggestion regarding the door-to-door admission campaign, Pandey said.

Janardan Sharma, director general of Department of Education said all stakeholders are incorporated in the campaign.
