More Swiss aid for peace

Kathmandu, December 10:

Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is all set to increase their assistance on security system outside the capital to reinforce peace and development activities in the nation.

The agency aims to increase its assistance by 70 per cent which will roughly touch the mark of $ 17 million by 2011.

Jean-March Clavel, country director of SDC, today said, "Nepal has many challenges since it is still in a transitional phase. We want to have more leverage in the Nepali political system and protection of human rights."

The SDC focuses on the upliftment of marginalised communities through skill development programmes.
