Mountaineers who come to Nepal are role models: PM

Kathmandu, May 30

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that mountaineers, who come to Nepal for adventure tourism, are role models for promoting Nepal’s tourism in the global market.

Launching the book ‘Silence of the Summit’ authored by the legendary female mountaineer Wang Jing at his official residence in Baluwatar today morning, PM Oli said that the book would be helpful in attracting more Chinese tourist to the country.

PM Oli also congratulated three-time Everest summiteer Jing, who is also Nepal’s tourism goodwill ambassador for China, for her record summit on the mountains in different continents as well as for authoring a book to chronicle her summit attempts.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Wu Chuntai said that Jing’s message would further strengthen people-to-people relations between the two countries.

Chief Executive officer at Nepal Tourism Board Deepak Raj Joshi congratulated Jiing for her success as she promoted Nepal’s mountaineering in the international market.

Lakpa Phuti Sherpa, Executive Director of Nepal Mountain Academy noted that Jing’s courage would inspire women all over the world to do their best in serving humanity.

Describing her success, Jing said that the book mainly aimed to promote Nepal’s tourism in the Chinese market. “I give credit to the Sherpas for my accomplishments in high-altitude mountaineering expeditions in Nepal,” she said, adding that Nepal was like a second home to her, and the Sherpas were like her family members. “I choose to climb peaks because it’s my dream while home is where the dream yearns for, or the heart belongs to, which is why I frequently go back,” she described.

In 2014, Jing along with three Sherpas accomplished the only successful Everest summit from the south side.
