KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 30

Cabin crew members of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) staged a symbolic protest on Monday, accusing the management of injustice and discrimination outside the corporation's premises.

The crew claimed that the management violated a Supreme Court interim order and retaliated against them for seeking justice.

Approximately 172 cabin crew members had filed a case with the Supreme Court months ago, alleging unfair treatment. The court had responded by issuing an interim order to prevent discrimination regarding service, benefits, and tenure, and ensured no prejudiced actions were taken due to their legal proceedings. Despite this, employee dissatisfaction grew, with accusations that the crew were being unfairly pushed into retirement and denied equal benefits.

Nearly 50 employees wearing black armbands gathered on Monday morning to protest as NAC Executive Chairman Yubaraj Adhikari entered the premises.

The protesters also submitted a letter to Tourism Minister Badri Pandey, urging him to take necessary steps to address the discrimination.

Even though the case remains under review, Chairman Adhikari has reportedly continued taking biased actions against the crew.

During the protest, employees carried placards demanding the implementation of the Supreme Court's interim order, an end to discrimination, and a stop to repression.
