Kathmandu, January 27:

The Nepal Bar Association (NBA) today criticised the government for the illegal detention of innocent people and for failing to provide them with necessary compensations.

NBA president, Shambhu Thapa, condemned the government for denying human rights to political activists. He also came down on the government for harassing the president of NGO Federation, Dr Arjun Karki, and his family members, saying that Dr Karki’s telephone lines and mobile phone had been cut off.

“We demand the government respect the rights of the people,” he added.
