NC discontent with ruling parties over preparations for 'decisive talks'

KATHMANDU: The main opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC), has expressed its dissatisfaction over preparations of ruling parties for the much-hyped 'decisive talks' said to be held today.

The party is yet to be informed about what is called decisive talks with the agitating Madhes-based political parties scheduled for today in the Capital, NC spokesperson Dilendra Prasad Badu said.

"The ruling parties have only created rumours about the talks. The NC is yet to be informed about when and where the dialogue is to take place," Badu said.

Badu shared the information with mediapersons after emerging from the meeting of the NC office- bearers at the NC Parliamentary Party Office at Singha Durbar in the Capital today.

Reports came to the ground that the ruling parties and the main opposition party would hold 'decisive' talks today with the agitating groups, which are up in arms in the southern plains, putting forth various demands including that of revision on the demarcation of provinces.

Meanwhile, the meeting demanded that the government retain the Bill related to the National Reconstruction Authority tabled in the Parliament by the former NC-led government, Badu said.

Likewise, he said that the meeting also demanded that the government should continue the task initiated by the erstwhile NC-led government related to the determination of electoral constituencies and the issues of inclusion and representation to genuinely address the agitation in the Tarai.

The meeting was also attended by NC acting President Ram Chandra Poudel, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and General Secretaries Prakash Man Singh and Krishna Prasad Sitaula.
