NC reschedules its general convention for Sept 19-22
KATHMANDU, July 10
The ruling Nepali Congress on Friday rescheduled its 13th General Convention, to be held in Kathmandu, for September 19-22. Earlier, the party had scheduled its GC for September 10-14.
NC Spokesperson Dilendra Prasad Badu told The Himalayan Times that the convention was rescheduled keeping in mind party’s Constituent Assembly members’ busy schedule as they will be reaching out to the general public to collect feedback on the draft of the constitution.
“Our CA members will be collecting public feedback and assisting constitution-making process from mid-July to mid-August. So, we cannot complete the conventions of lower-level committees as per earlier schedule,” Badu said.
A Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the party held on Friday at the CA building in New Baneshwor decided to reschedule the conventions of all villages, municipals, constituencies and district committees accordingly.
The ward, village and municipal committee conventions, which were scheduled for July 30, will be held on August 18.
Similarly, the party will hold its constituency committee conventions and district committee conventions on August 24 and 27 respectively.
