NC to discuss Mahasamiti meeting

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the Preparatory Committee of the Nepali Congress Mahasamiti meeting is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at the party office, Sanepa.

NC has said the meeting will be attended by all the three district presidents in the valley, presidents of metropolitan, sub-metropolitans and municipalities, lawmakers elected from the capital and NC leaders. According to NC leader Bimalendra Nidhi the meeting was called to hold talks on the preparations made on the upcoming Mahasamiti meeting.

The Mahasamiti meeting is slated for November 1 to 3 in Kathmandu at the Nepal Academy, Kamaladi. The Mahasamiti is the second most powerful body of the NC which comprises 1,250 members. The meeting is being monitored very closely by the political pundits as it is being held despite NC president Girija Prasad Koirala's repeated directives to scrap it at least for this year.

The Mahsamiti Preparatory Committee was formed by the NC Central Committee meeting on October 14 under the coordination of NC president of Kathmandu district Dhan Govinda Ranjit.
