NC's CWC meet postponed

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Central Working Committee of the Nepali Congress called for today was postponed without convening.

The meeting called for 11:00 am was put off after failing to forge consensus over the issue of formation of Disciplinary Committee.

Before the meeting, an initiative was taken to forge consensus between President Sher Bahadur Deuba faction and senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel faction.

CWC member Ram Krishna Yadav said that the meeting was postponed after leader Poudel took the stance that his group would remain absent in the meeting if members of Disciplinary Committee are not elected unanimously.

Another CWC member Bhishma Raj Aangdembe said that today's meeting was postponed as the further discussion was necessary to forge a consensus regarding the formation of Disciplinary and Election Committees.

Each committee has five members including the coordinator. A consensus was not forged for formation of both committees as both groups tried to make the committees favourable to them.

Groups led by leaders Poudel and Krishna Prasad Sitaula had put their different opinions in the meeting held on February 24, saying the sentiments of Mahasamiti meeting was not incorporated while passing the proposal of statute amendment of the party.
