KATHMANDU: An association of Dalit journalists was constituted on Friday to organise Dalit journalists across the country and protect and promote their professional rights.

A gathering of Dalit journalists in the capital formed an 11-member Nepal Dalit Journalists Association (NDJA) headed by Pabitra Sunar of Nagarik Daily.

Gopal Baraili (Commander Post) is the vice chair, Laxman Darnal (Gorkhapatra) general secretary, Santosh Gandharva (Nepalbani Network) secretary and Buddhi Bishwakarma (Radio Himalaya) is treasurer of the association.

Binod Bishwakarma (ABC Television), Krishna Rijal (Naya Patrika) and Anil Pariyar (Radio Kantipur), among others are members of the association.
