Kathmandu, January 2

Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists today welcomed the Supreme Court verdict ordering the government to formulate an act related to climate change.

NEFEJ has also urged the government to be serious about the verdict and find ways to reduce the impact of climate change. All concerned authorities should pay attention to the concerns of the judiciary related to climate change and its impact, said a statement issued by NEFEJ President Kosmos Bishwokarma.

A division bench of then chief justice Om Prakash Mishra and Justice Tej Bahadur KC had given the verdict in response to a writ petition filed by advocate Padam Bahadur Shrestha.

The SC had also directed the government to effectively implement Climate Change Policy until a separate act was formulated.
