Nepal Press Union's silver jubilee celebration to last for a year

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Press Union (NPU) is marking its silver jubilee across the country throughout the year from May 27 amidst various programmes.

Established on May 27, 1991, the NPU working for professional and physical welfare of working journalists has got its branches across the country.

Around 7,400 journalists are affiliated with the NPU so far, said the NPU former president Murari Sharma.

NPU President Badri Sigdel said that all 17 founding members of the NPU would be honoured on the occasion.

The founding members to be honoured are Hari Adhikari, Ramesh Toofan, Rajesh Dhungana, Shirish Ballav Pradhan, Shovakar Parajuli, Jagadhish Ghimire, Kanhaiyalal Keshari, Rajeshwor Nepali, Harihar Prasad Shrestha, Ganesh Prasad Nepal, Taranath Dahal, Krishna Kandel, Yogesh Upadhyay, Yadav Thapaliya, Ramchandra Upreti and Ganesh Ballav Pradhan.
