Nepal Students' Union protest

KATHMANDU: Nepal Students' Union (NSU) on Wednesday blockaded the road for an hour at various colleges across the nation protesting the attack on former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress(NC) leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and other NC leaders. Maoist cadres on Tuesday pelted stones at Deuba and other NC leaders when they were attending the 56th anniversary of Nepal Tarun Dal in Narayangadh.

In response, NSU organised the chhakajam from 10 am to 11 am in front of Tri-Chandra College, Shankar Dev College, Ratna Rajya College, Pashupati Multiple College and Saraswoti College, said Pradeep Poudel, president of NSU. Poudel also threatened to use force if the Maoist continue to attack leaders hereafter. He said that the recent spate of attacks was against the spirit of Jana-Andolan II which would not be tolerated.

Meanwhile, Nepal Tarun Dal has strongly condemned the incident and urged the Maoist to opt for cooperation and collaboration.

The Dal has demanded the Ministry of Home Affairs to take stringent action on the culprits.
