Nepal to march on Saturday seeking #JusticeForNirmala

KATHMANDU: A mass rally has been called on Saturday at Maitighar Mandala in the capital, and various other places across the country, demanding fair investigations into the rape and murder of 13-year-old Nirmala Panta of Kanchanpur district.

People from all walks of life are expected to attend the rally, which also aims to draw the authorities' attention to increasing instances of rape, rape followed by murder, and other forms of sexual violence.

Panta's parents, who are currently in the capital, are also likely to participate in the march being held in Kathmandu.

An 'automatic' social media movement that began in Kathmandu following protests in Kanchanpur demanding #JusticeForNirmala is now gradually picking a pace across the country.

Meanwhile, people are also gathering in other cities across the country, in a bid to 'remind' the government that justice cannot be compromised.

This march is a follow-up of a similar rally that was held on August 25.

Details of places where the people will gather tomorrow to show solidarity towards the cause:

Almost two months have passed since the brutal incident. However, authorities and probe committees have not only failed to identify the perpetrator(s) but massive negligence at the initial stages has further complicated the case proceedings.
