Nepal world's attractive tourist destination: Vice-President Pun

KATHMANDU: Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun has said that Nepal, a country full of natural and cultural diversity, is one of the attractive tourist destinations in the world.

Inaugurating the 44th anniversary of Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management on Sunday, Vice-President Pun said Nepal, however, was yet to explore the tremendous potential of tourism, linking it to national pride.

"The natural and cultural specificities are gifts to boost tourism in Nepal. But, the country is waiting for establishing tourism as an industry," he added, arguing that tourism could be linked to sustainable economic development.

According to him, the creation of skilled human resources for the tourism sector was another need.

On the occasion, State Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Parshuram Tamang also underscored the need to build infrastructures for economic prosperity relating to tourism.

Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Shanker Prasad Adhikari, said the role of Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management could be expanded by creating quality human resources.
