Nepali Congress calls for prompt response to floods, landslides

KATHMANDU: The main opposition party Nepali Congress has demanded that the government take immediate measures to rescue the families affected by floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall in different parts of the country and provide them with relief assistance.

The NC stated that it calls for searching for and rescuing people who are said to be missing or stranded in floods and landslides caused by the rainfall for last few days in different places of the country including Dhading, Gorkha and Dolakha districts.

Party's Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel made this call issuing a press release today.

The press release states that the party President Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed profound sorrow over the damage caused by floods and landslides and instructed the party's local units and its sister organisations and well-wisher organisations for rescuing the affected families and providing them with relief assistance.

Condolence on Lalitpur wall collapse victims

Meanwhile, the party extended condolence on death of two school students in a wall collapse incident in Taukhel of Lalitpur this morning.

The party urged the government to manage speedy treatment of the injured.
