LALITPUR: Gajendra Maharjan of Nepali congress has been elected mayor of Godawari Municipality in Lalitpur district. Maharjan garnered 13,820 votes to defeat Shyam Krishna Silwal of CPN-UML who got 11,087 votes. Similarly, NC candidate Muna Bhandari was elected deputy mayor in the municipality. Bhandari got 12,779 votes against 12,396 of Tara Sanjel from UML.
