Congress protests 'unilateral' appointments, govt inaction
KATHMANDU: The main opposition party Nepali Congress on Monday protested acts of the government to the make political, judicial and diplomatic appointments unilaterally, neglecting power sharing partners as well as other parties.
A NC Parliamentary Party meeting held at the Parliament Building, New Baneshwor, concluded that the government was turning a deaf ear towards the public outcry of an artificial shortage of food stuffs and fuel in the market, and demanded control of such activities.
Stating that it has already been late to carry out reconstruction and resettlement tasks in quake-ravaged districts, the meeting drew the attention of the government to forward reconstruction tasks immediately, said a parliamentarian Min Bahadur Bishwokarma.
Similarly, the NC decided to raise the issue of reconstruction task with priority in the Parliament session scheduled to begin tomorrow.
The meeting also demanded that the government take steps to control the raging forest fire as well as providing compensation to the fire victims.
Stating that the government was not seen serious to improve international and diplomatic relations, the NC drew the attention of the government to work in this regard as well.
The party also decided to take initiatives for the resolution of Madhes agitation, saying the government was apathetic to implement the new Constitution by holding discussions with agitating Madhes-based political parties, said Bishwokarma.
