Nepali Congress triumvirate claims party candidacies in PM, Prez polls strengthened national unity

KATHMANDU: Three top leaders of the Nepali Congress (NC) have claimed that the party decision to contest the elections in key posts has strengthened national unity.

During today's Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of party, NC President Sushil Koirala, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and Vice-President Ram Chandra Paudel expressed their opinions in response to the CWC members' concerns.

Some members of the party at the CWC meeting today had asked views of the top leaders regarding the party's move of filing candidacies to different posts including Prime Minister and President.

CWC member Mahendra Sharma said that the meeting is likely to discuss the political situation created in the country after the promulgation of new Constitution and the party's role in it.
