New US envoy presents credentials to Prime Minister
Kathmandu, August 9:
US ambassador to Nepal, Nancy J Powell, today presented her credentials to PM Girija Prasad Koirala in the State Hall at the National Planning Commission office.
Powell, who arrived here on Monday, is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service. She has served the US embassy in Kathmandu as a consular officer from 1980 to 1982, and as the State Department Nepal Desk Officer from 1982-1984. Prior to her current assignment, Powell served as the National Intelligence Officer for South Asia at the National Intelligence Council (2006 to 2007). Powell was the US envoy to Pakistan from August 2002 to October 2004 and envoy to Ghana from September 2001 to May 2002, among others.
