KATHMANDU: Norway has congratulated newly elected President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Friday.

Issuing a statement today, Royal Norwegian Embassy congratulated her on the behalf of Norwegian government.

The election following the promulgation of constitution and the formation of a new government is a manifestation of Nepal’s commitment to democratic development, peace and prosperity, the statement read.

Norway encourages the new leadership to ensure a peaceful and inclusive implementation of the Constitution to secure Nepal’s future social and economic development and needed reconstruction efforts, the statement further read.
