KATHMANDU: Chief Executive Officer of National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) Sushil Gyawali is in Pakistan for 'sharing  the learning on post-earthquake reconstruction' in Nepal and Pakistan.

He left for Pakistan on Monday night. While in Islamabad and Lahore, CEO Gyawali will meet with ministers of the Pakistan government, the chief of the National Disaster Management Authority and experts, among others, the NRA stated.

He will study about the policies as well as the legal and practical aspects adopted by Pakistan in reconstruction process, the challenges it faced and the methods of addressing these issues.

The reconstruction authority set up in Pakistan in the aftermath of the 2005 mega earthquake was handed over to the National Disaster Management Authority. Pakistan has successfully managed a Disaster Management Fund and pursued a long-term disaster management financial plan.

He will also hold discussions with the Pakistani officials as to how Nepal could transfer the experience and knowledge from the post-earthquake reconstruction process to the Earthquake Museum and International Research Centre and the National Disaster Management Authority to be set up in Nepal.

NRA joint-secretary Prakash Thapa, project director of the Central Project Implementation Unit (Building), Nawaraj Pyakurel, among other officials are accompanying CEO Gyawali. He will return home on Saturday.
