NSU activists picket Nepali Congress leaders

Kathmandu, April 28:

A few leaders and activists of the Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) this morning picketed Nepali Congress leaders and didn’t let them them enter Prime Minister’s official residence for the party’s Central Working Committee meeting, demanding a national convention of the union.

Meanwhile, issuing a press statement, the Nepal Students’ Union, the student wing of the Nepali Congress, condemned the misbehaviour of some of its activists against leaders of the Nepali Congress.

“We condemn the incident in which some of the Nepali Congress leaders were misbehaved against. The union would take severe action against those involved in the incident after an investigation,” said Gajendra Karki, general secretary of the Nepal Students’ Union.

Also today, labelling the current leadership of the union as incapable, a number of Nepal Students’ Union central committee members, presidents of different units of the union and Free Students’ Union (FSU) demanded its dissolution.

“There is no alternative to resignation of the current leadership of the Nepali Congress,” stated a joint statement issued by the Nepal Students’ Union leaders.

Central members Dipak Bhattarai, Dr Santosh Dhungana, Anandaraj Tripathi, Kedar Karki Narayan Koirala, Tek Narayan Bhusal, Sunil Shrestha and Bir Bahadur Bista; FSU presidents Laos Rai, Santosh Pande, Bhim Shrish, Jit Bahadur Sherchan and Janak Raj Joshi have signed on the statement.

Similarly, Nepal Students’ Union unit presidents Nagen Singh, Dipa Shiwakoti, Prachanda Bikram Neupane, Prakash Rawal, Kailash Koirala, Keshav Sharma, Shivaraj Fagu, Indu Sharma, Bikash Thapa, Jayaram Mishra, Manahari Shrestha, Baldev Thapa,

Sagar Bhattarai and Lila Ballav Dahal have also signed on the statement.
