NSU convention in March

Kathmandu, December 23:

The central ad hoc committee of the Nepal Students’ Union today announced that its 10th general convention will be held in in Janakpur from March 9-11.

It also decided to organise its district conventions by February 17, campus unit conventions by February 22 and prepare a list of convention representatives by February 27.

The NSU central committee also demanded immediate appointment of vice-chancellors and other key officials in the universities.

Pradip Poudel, the NSU vice-president, told a press conference today that the central committee, following a meeting yesterday, has given the task of preparing documents to various students’ leaders.

According to him, NSU president Mahendra Sharma will prepare political proposals, NSU general secretary Badri Pandey will prepare an organisational proposal, vice-president Ranjit Karna will prepare a draft statute of the NSU and another vice-president, Kshitiz Bhandari, will come out with a proposal on publicity and promotion. Pradip Poudel will come out with the proposal on education.

The convention being held in Pokhara was disrupted on August 14 last year as two fractions of the NSU clashed, citing irregularities while preparing a voters’ list.

The Nepali Congress had formed the Nepal Students Union ad hoc committee on December 18 last year.
