NSU demands reduction in public transport fares

Kathmandu, January 20

Nepal Students’ Union affiliated to the Nepali Congress today warned that it would resort to street protests if the government failed to immediately slash public transport fares in line with the drop in prices of petroleum products.

The student wing of NC issued the warning two days after the Nepal Oil Corporation slashed the prices of petrol, diesel and aviation fuel in line with the drop in oil prices in the international market.

A press statement issued by NSU Spokesperson UP Lamichhane, here today said transport operators should reduce transport fares immediately.

It also condemned the government for not taking action against Nepal Oil Corporation for not easing fuel supplies.
