NSU holds central meet

The central committee meeting of the Nepal Students’ Union has appointed a central member (name not disclosed) to organise, coordinate and monitor people’s movement under the coordination of a 17-member ‘Central Struggle Committee’, a statement issued by the union at the end of the meeting said. The meeting was chaired by Nrip Bahadur Bista, acting president of the Nepal Student Union. The statement denounced the King’s February 1 move.
It has also decided to set up district-level and zonal-level Action committees. The meeting decided to launch the movement in tandem with Nepali Congress (Democratic) and other sister organisations and give responsibilities to the newly-appointed central members and chief of the publicity department of the NSU. The NSU also appealed to the government to immediately release its leaders and cadres, including central president of the union, Kishore Singh Rathore, and central members Narayan Prasad Acharya and Bharat Shahi. It also demanded that security personnel be immediately withdrawn from the premises of educational institutions.
