OAG submits annual report

KATHMANDU: The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) urged to amend various existing Acts in the country in order to bring uniformity.

Furnishing the annual report for the fiscal year 2007/08 to President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, the office sought to amend the Acts including the Government Case Act, 1990. Attorney General Pro Dr Bharat Bahadur Karki submitted the report to the president today.

The report demanded to formulate procedure for the record of statement of witnesses. It also urged to provide additional time to move court on government cases, including the rape related cases. The OAG also sought to amend the Cyber Crime Act to effectively control the cyber-related crimes.

Upon receiving the report, President Dr Yadav said that he would urge the government to table the report in the Legislature-Parliament as soon as possible.

Among others, the OAG also called to provide professional allowance to the government attorneys, to appoint AG as the member of the Judicial Council in the new constitution.
