‘Office of Attorney General should be capable and strong’
Kathmandu, August 28
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said the Office of Attorney General should be capable and strong enough to defend the government’s interests.
The PM said this at a programme organised at Office of Attorney General. PM Dahal and Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ajay Shankar Nayak also inspected the AG’s office.
The PM said the body that defends the interests of the government should be capable and strong enough to do the expected job. “If the body that is supposed to defend the government is weak, the resultant effect will be that the government will also be weak,” the PM added.
Attorney General Raman Kumar Shrestha said the Office of the Attorney General should be equipped with all the facilities and should be capable and strong enough to defend government’s interests.
He said government’s defence in some writ petitions were weak mainly due to lack of coordination between the AG’s office and the concerned ministries and failure of concerned ministries to provide documentary evidences relating to the cases.
