Oli demands second-phase local polls be held before May 29
KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli demanded that the second-phase local level elections be held before May 29, during a meeting with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba at his residence in Balkot of Bhaktapur on Wednesday.
In the meeting, NC President Deuba sought support from the main-opposition party for the constitution amendment bill tabled at the Legislature-Parliament.
However, Oli rejected the proposal claiming the proposal was unconstitutional.
Similarly, both the leaders also discussed impeachment motion filed against Chief Justice Sushila Karki and holding the upcoming local level elections by bringing disgruntled Madhes-based political parties on board, according to Pramod Dahal, Oli's press advisor.
During the meeting, CPN-UML Chairman urged leader Deuba to withdraw the impeachment motion filed at the Legislature-Parliament.
