Oli holds meetings in New York

Kathmandu, September 22:

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, KP Sharma Oli, held a number of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from various countries at the United Nations Headquarters in New York yesterday.

Oli met with Raymond Ramazanibaya, Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Democratic Republic of Congo and discussed matters of mutual interest. The Foreign Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo expressed sincere appreciation of his Government for the service provided by the Nepalese peacekeepers in his country under the aegis of the United Nations. He also expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of those Nepalese peacekeepers who lost their lives in line of duty there.

Assistant Secretary of State in charge of the Bureau of Democracy, human rights and labour in the US Department of State Barry F Lowenkron met Oli at the UN Headquarters. Current situation in Nepal, on-going peace process were among the other issues discussed during the meeting. Lewenkron expressed his country’s support for the process. Oli attended the on-going general debate of the 61st session of the UN General Assembly.
