KATHMANDU, JULY 31

Police arrested a person for swindling an individual of Rs 2 Lakhs by luring them with the promise of a high-paying job in Cyprus.

The arrestee has been identified as Rajan Giri, aged 33 and residing in Dallu, Kathmandu Metropolitan City -15.

The arrest came after a report was filed at the Department of Foreign Employment, accusing Giri of swindling the victim of the money on multiple occasions with the assurance of a foreign employment opportunity in a reputable company in Cyprus, offering a salary exceeding one lakh rupees. However, after accepting the money, Giri vanished without any further communication.

Upon the request from the Department of Foreign Employment, a team dispatched from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Division, Minbhawan, apprehended Giri from Lazimpat.

Accused Giri has been sent to the depart ment of Foreign Employment in Tahachal, Kathmandu for furhter investigation and legal proceedings, police said.
