Kathmandu, April 12:
The Bouddha Ward Police Office yesterday arrested Kaluwa Chaudhary, 31, on the charge of raping his 10-year old daughter. Chaudhary was arrested after locals and Chaudhary’s wife came to the police station to file a complaint. The Bouddha Ward Police Office said that Chaudhary, who hails from Sarlahi, admitted that he had raped his daughter four times.
The girl told the police that her father was taking ‘some kind of satisfaction’ from her.
Chaudhary was working as a labourer. A medical examination conducted on the girl proved that she was raped, the police said. “We have forwarded the case to the Women’s Cell at Kalimati for further investigation and legal procedures,” Brikha Bahadur Rawal, the inspector at the legal section of the Kathmandu District Police, said.
The Women and Children’s Cell of the Kathmandu District Police Office, the body which
handles such cases, receives two cases of rape per month, according to Mira Chaurhary, the inspector of the cell. On March 18, the Kirtipur Ward Police Office arrested 28-year-old Hemlal Shrestha for allegedly raping his daughter after the 16-year-old victim came to the police office from her rented house after her father raped her for the second time. On February 7, a 15-year-old girl had filed a complaint at the Women and Children’s cell under the Kathmandu District Police Office against her father, Makar Pandit, accusing the latter of forcing to have sex with him.
