One more pharmecist held for selling controlled drugs

KATHMANDU: Police on Friday arrested one more pharmacist for her alleged involvement in selling controlled psychoactive drugs without prescriptions.   

The detainee has been identified as 34-year-old Laxmi Rai, a permanent resident of Empha VDC-9 in Khotang district.

She would operate the Rational Medical Store in Baneshwor, KMC-34.

Earlier, on Thursday, police had raided four drug stores and nabbed operators over the same charge.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Department of Drug Administration had raided different medical stores in the Capital this afternoon also.

Police also seized various controlled drugs from her.

Rai will be booked under the Narcotic Drug (Control) Act 1976 in coordination with the Department of Drug Administration, the NCB said.
