Panel speaks up for peace force in Sudan

KATHMANDU: The State Affairs Committee (SAC) of the legislature parliament today summoned Home Minister, Home Secretary, IGPs of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force on August 19 to discuss on the problems faced by the security personnel, who went to Sudan as part of the United Nations peacekeeping mission. Nepali police in the UN mission are reportedly facing severe problems such as poor physical infrastructure. The UN has written to the Nepal government to probe into the grievances on the issue and take necessary steps.

“The committee will give its input to the Home Ministry after taking a close look at the issue,” said Ram Nath Dhakal, chairman, SAC.
