Panel to study possibility of big transport vehicles for Valley

KATHMANDU: The government on Monday formed a four-member panel to carry out a feasibility study on management of big public transport vehicles in Kathmandu Valley.

The panel consists of the Director General at the Department of Roads as the coordinator and representatives of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Department of Transport Management and the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division as members.

The team is mandated to submit a report to the Chief Secretary within 15 days.

According to the OPMCM, the team would identify the roads where dedicated lanes could be developed for big vehicles.

Meanwhile, the meeting headed by Chief Secretary Somlal Subedi also decided to strictly implement the provisions against gender violence in public transport vehicles and make vehicle fitness test reports public in every six months from all Transport Management Offices.
